How do I stop the 'attempting data recovery' loop and log in normally after failed passcode attempts on my iPhone?

How do I get out of this loop and log in normally?

Yesterday morning, I forgot my iPhone passcode as it slipped my mind, since I'm so used to entering it with muscle memory.

In a panic, I reached 6 failed attempts which resulted in the 15 min wait period, until finally I reached 10 attempts and had a 1 hr wait period.

After that, I was given another chance to enter in a passcode (it was incorrect) and it gave me a 3hr waiting period.

After the period, I entered in my final guess (which was wrong, again) and it gave another 3hr waiting period. Eventually, I was afraid I wouldn't get any more attempts so I looked up methods on how to unlock a phone with forgotten passcode.

I found a method that mentioned going into recovery mode, so I did with my MacBook, and part of the method was to restore my iPhone.

I did not realize this meant deleting all my data, and I realized this as I was software updating it.

My most recent backup is from mid January, so out of panic (thinking my software update would lead to restoring my phone), I yanked out the USB cord as it was restarting after finishing installing the update.

Once it restarted, I was presented with a white screen that asked for my passcode (at this point I finally recalled it, so I entered it) and it displayed a message about attempting data recovery.

After research, I realize it's from my failed software update.

After waiting for data recovery to finish, my phone screen said phone unavailable try again in 3 hr.

So, I waited and the attempting data recovery was there again.

I think I went through this loop like 3 times (9 hours!!) until I wanted to find other solutions that don't need me to factory reset.

And after each time I leave recovery mode, I get the 3hr unavailable message.

I've tried:

  • Finder software update (twice, using apple cord)
  • 3uTools
  • Force restarting
  • Force quit recovery mode

Haven't tried:

  • "Repairing" with 3rd party software
  • Entering in wrong passcodes when prompted before the attempting data recovery
  • Restoring (I'm hoping it doesn't have to come to this.)

Firstly 3U tools is a jailbreaking tool, avoid at all costs.

Secondly there is no way to avoid restoring your phone and losing any data not backed up or synced with iCloud. That is how passcode security works. And it is unbeatable even if you are FBI.

Use the restore process and let it finish.
