Why is my Apple Watch distance/map tracking inaccurate?

Why is my distance/map tracking suddenly so weird? and not like a straight line like before?? It's annoying me and feels like i haven't ran that much. What should i do? Should i get a new watch since it's almost 3 years old? It's perfectly fine when i recording a walk though

Before you buy a new watch, try to erase it and pair it again to your iPhone, setting it up as a new device instead of using the backup data.

Then test your GPS again.

If you walk outside, the watch has more time to get an exact GPS signal, higher buildings or trees may also weaken the GPS signal, and the watch will search for other means, for example Wi-Fi networks or other cell towers to get a fixed position.

Did you have your iPhone with you while walking and running? If your iPhone is near, it might help to get a better recording of your route.

hi there. thanks for replying
my phone is always with me and im always running at the same route. there were no such issues till few days back... so i guess it's time for a new watch ...? i have tried recalibrating as well, restarting both phone and watch but to no avail

When did you start running this route? Depending on where you are, trees are starting to leaf out. And yes, that can affect GPS.
