I don't think you're referring to mail on Safari. I believe you are referring the new Categories in the Mail App. That has nothing to do with Safari.

Open the Mail App

Look for the circle at the top with three dots and tap it

Tap List View and your mail will be back as it was

If you want to remove the Contact Poster next to each message:

Open Settings > Apps > Mail > Turn off Show Contact Poster

Your mail will look just as it did before the update.

Well, I think YOU just made my day!

Now, if you want to get rid of the contact posters next to each message, do this:

  • Open the Settings App
  • Scan all the way down to the bottom of the page and tap Apps
  • Look for and tap Mail
  • Look for and turn off Show Contact Posters

You're welcome. I don't recommend turning off updates, to be honest. Yes, updates sometimes bring new features, but they always bring security updates, which keep you and your data safe. Before you update your phone, on the update page are release notes, which tell you what's new. Read them so you're not caught off guard with changes you weren't anticipating. But do update when an update is released to keep yourself safe. And of course, come here if you have questions about a new feature and we'll be happy to help you.
