Stocks App launches automatically and disrupts workflow

Dear Apple Support,

I’m experiencing an ongoing issue where the built-in Stocks app frequently launches on its own while I’m working, even though I’ve never opened it manually. This happens randomly and interrupts whatever task I’m doing — sometimes causing brief freezes where my mouse clicks stop registering for a moment.

I’ve attempted all suggested solutions including:

  • Removing the app from widgets and login items
  • Disabling background app activity
  • Attempting to delete the app (which is blocked by System Integrity Protection)

Despite this, the Stocks app continues to initiate itself without my input, impacting performance. It behaves as though it’s “haunting” the system, launching unpredictably. I’m genuinely concerned this might be a bug or unintended behavior from a recent update.

Please advise how I can stop this app from launching, or let me know if there's a known fix or report I can reference.

Thank you,

Shadi

This is a user-to-user support community. Apple Support isn’t here, and Apple only very seldom replies.

Update macOS to 15.3.1, and test again.

Please also download and run (free) EtreCheck, and when the run completes, share the report to the clipboard. Then open a new reply here, and press the additional-text button that looks like a printed page to get a text input box big enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here, and paste and post that report here.
