My M4 MacBook Pro shuts down while I'm presenting

This is a new issue for me as a long-term mac user. While I'm presenting a keynote or mirroring an iPad to deliver training on my new M4 MacBook, which is connected to an external display, the screen periodically goes blank. I then have to then run over to the Mac to wake it up again to continue my presentation. None of the MacBooks I've had previously did that. They just seemed to know when I was presenting.

It's seriously affecting my ability to deliver keynotes and training. Is there a setting somewhere I'm missing that keeps the Mac awake when you are playing a keynote or mirroring an iPad?

This should be easy to fix. Just change the settings in System Settings->Lock Screen to give it a longer time before the screen turns off.

I am not at my mac just now but later I can post a screenshot if you need it - but you can probably find it already.

Thanks Luis I’ll give that a try as a temporary fix. I’m still wondering if there’s something that might override it when I’m presenting. It seemed to do that in the past.

If that possibility exists, I assume it is the responsibility of the application you are using to present - I mean, there are a huge number of things you can be doing with multiple displays, I don't think there is a way the OS can "know" that you are presenting; but an application like, for example, Keynote, might have a setting that would prevent the screen from sleeping.

EDIT: I just did a quick test, setting the screen to turn off after 1 minute. Having a Keynote presentation running prevented the screen from turning off. This seems to happen automatically, as I did not find any Keynote setting for it.
