iPhone 8 Plus & 2nd Gen SE aren’t showing Ethernet in settings or connecting to the internet.

I bought a Ethernet to usb-c adapter.

When I plug it into an iPhone 15 Pro it works as intended and the Ethernet line shows up in settings.

I also bought these little usb-c to lightning connectors that I confirmed worked via charging. But when I put one of these connectors on the Ethernet to usb-c adapter and then plug in my old iPhone 8 Plus or 2nd Gen SE, the “Ethernet” option does not show in settings and the phones obviously aren’t connecting to the internet.

Ive followed the instruction in terms of turning off wifi, turning off data and turning off Bluetooth. As well as turning on airplane mode.

And I know it’s not the usb-c to lightning connectors bc those work fine while charging.

Can anyone please help me out!?

Hi ComB801,

Your USB-C to Lightning adapter likely doesn’t support Ethernet. While it works for charging, it may not allow data transfer.

Try this instead:

1. Use Apple’s Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter + a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.

2. Provide Power – Some adapters need external power.

3. Test a Different Adapter – Not all support full data transfer.

Lightning ports don’t handle Ethernet like USB-C, so a proper adapter setup is needed. Hope this helps!
