Apple Podcasts mystery: Episodes disappearing from show page for some users. Search, RSS, and other apps are fine.

As I await Apple's support people to reply, sharing this strange issue in case others have encountered it or have a clue:

Many of the episodes in the podcast feed I manage have disappeared on our Apple Podcasts show page.

I haven't done an exact count of missing episodes as it's difficult (episodes are reappearing, then disappearing again a few hours later), but it seems like well over half, maybe 80%, of the episodes are gone starting at least Jan 1 and I can see some are missing earlier than that.

Strangely, the episodes are still searchable individually, and within Podcast Connect there are no alerts or warnings.

I'm also getting reports of issues on the iOS app, although it seems to be a mix there. For some on the phone app, the feed appears fine.

My podcast provider sees no issues on their end.

RSS validation (https://pinecast.com/feed/jacobin) reveals minor, blanket issues (e.g. an explicit tag is down as "no" rather than "false," and the <itunes:summary> is missing, but I think Apple would just pull from the description as a backup). Nothing I can see that would affect some episodes but not others.

A different podcast feed I manage is hosted on the same provider, and that podcast has no issues.

On other apps, the podcast appears fine. The issue is exclusive to Apple.

One hypothesis was there could be a publication date issue or incorrect season setting, something like that, but I can't see the episodes anywhere on the show page (not like they were buried down to the bottom, or categorized elsewhere - our show is set to "episodic").

Any theories? Others experienced anything like it? My best guess, outside of a technical glitch, is that episodes are getting flagged or reported for content reasons? (Our podcast often deals with political issues, perhaps some trolls caught on and mass reported episodes.) But you'd think I'd get a warning or alert about that.
