AirPods Pro 2 won’t factory reset and left earbud won’t connect

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble performing a factory reset on my AirPods Pro (2nd generation). Here’s what’s happening:

1. When I try to reset them by holding the back button on the case, the status light turns amber (orange), then green instead of flashing white. This suggests the reset isn’t completing correctly.

2. After the reset attempt, when I reconnect them to my iPhone, they still retain the custom name I previously set, indicating that they weren’t actually reset.

3. The left AirPod won’t connect at all. I tried pairing each earbud separately to my phone, and while the right one connects, the left one doesn’t appear in the Bluetooth list.

4. I’ve already tried:

• Forgetting the AirPods in Bluetooth settings and reconnecting them.

• Ensuring both AirPods are charged and making proper contact inside the case.

• Resetting my iPhone’s network settings before pairing again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there any way to force a reset if the normal method isn’t working? Could this be a hardware issue with the left AirPod or the case?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

You may want to try following Apple Support's step by step guidance:

See: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white. You can now reconnect your AirPods.

NB: If the status light still doesn't flash white, learn what to do.
