How do I prevent the on-screen keyboard from popping up while using an external keyboard on iPad?

When I try to type On my iPad with my keyboard this keyboard pops up and even when I put it down with the button it comes back up when I type what setting do I turn on to fix this?

However, when I click on the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen, the keyboard appears just fine up until I click on it.
