MacOS Sequoia Update from Monterey not working

Hello,

I've tried twice and the same thing happens. Software update downloads the file and then initiates the installation. That takes a little while but then finally the computer restarts and another progress bar appears with a black screen and the Apple logo. This progresses gradually. But then when the OS starts again, it is still Monterey. What am I doing wrong here? What could be the problem?
