Everything I say, or someone else says in the background. There is no sound when you press a key. And there is no message that pops up. It dictates to any text field I am in at the time.

Go Here: Change the Sound Input Settings on Mac - Apple Support

Turn Off Voice Control:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: System Settings (or System Preferences).
  3. Click: Accessibility
  4. Click: Voice Control
  5. Toggle Off: Voice Control

Have no need for dictation? If so, turn it off:

  1. Go to: Apple menu
  2. Select: System Settings
  3. Open: Keyboard in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
