Siri won't speak directions in Maps through CarPlay

My husband is using an iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS 18.3.2. A little while ago, Siri stopped giving spoken directions in Maps while using CarPlay. However, my iPhone with the same iOS works fine. He's tried all of the steps from other posts in the Community and it still says no map directions other than "Getting directions to..." However, getting text messages is fine. It will pop up with "speed check ahead" or "road closed ahead..." messages, just no turn-by-turn spoken directions, it's only on the screen. The only thing he hasn't tried is doing a factory reset.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE: While in Maps, we tried tapping the speaker icons that appear on the bottom of the screen before you hit go. It showed the volume was all the way up. Nothing changed. HOWEVER, we were connected to our CarPlay via USB cord. WHEN WE UNPLUGGED THE PHONE, went back to the map, the speakers appear on the right-hand side in the middle of the screen, the speakers appeared again, but this time, it was set to no sound. While still unplugged, my husband selected the loudest volume and started the route. Siri started speaking. We then plugged it back into the USB to CarPlay in our Honda and IT WORKED! I hope this helps someone.
