OS 18.4 Reminders search not working after update, fixed by toggling iCloud off and on

Problem: ios 18.4 running on 16e with Reminders in iCloud: reminders search not working:

updated to 18.4
Apple Account > iCloud > Saved to iCloud: Reminders is green
search for a text string that is in reminders and get no results

Apparent fix:

Saved to iCloud: toggle Reminders off and on

Result:

Can now search on reminders

The issue seems to be related to the Search/Spotlight cache because the deleted reminder doesn't appear when navigating to the relevant date in the Calendar; it only shows up in the search results. Reminders Search CANNOT find entries, that I CAN SEE! Occasionally my M2 Mac mini does not find certain entries within a reminders search. However, they have always been found when I search on my iPhone (whatever model), currently a 16 Pro Max. Since the latest update, 18.4 on iPhone, 15.4 on Mac mini, NEITHER can find certain entries. Like another user, I have a shopping list, but I tend to leave lots in there and only Flag what is urgent. But I cannot find entries that I can clearly see. Let's use 'Asparagus' as an example as I have not eaten it in a while. IT does NOT show when I search 'asp'. If I FLAG it, then search 'asp' it is clearly shown. I assume altering it has updated the entry somehow, so maybe the older entries need refreshing? But I shouldn't need to. I have around 1,000 reminder entries.

Reminders disappearing If I add a reminder on my Mac or iOS, then it disappears a few hours later. Help! I’m on the latest iOS (16.3.1) and latest MacOS (Monterrey) My iCloud sync works with everything else and Reminders syncing is on like everything else I’ve tested this both ways ie adding Reminder on Mac or on iOS and it shows up properly on both devices (so sync works) but just disappears without a trace when I check again a few hours later i don’t have any automations active ie IFTTT or Home scenes or whatever It’s driving me mad!!
