Not receiving notification sound for mail on my iPhone 12 Pro Max

I am not receiving alert notification sounds on my iPhone. Newest update installed- 18.4. But still no sound? This has been an issue for months now. Is this due to a dispute with Google, since notifications are now only Fetch not Push for gmail? But still, why no sound?
