cant connect phone number to iMessage or FaceTime

i cant connect my phone number to my iMessages nor FaceTime I've added the number to my account but it dose not show up when i go to “send and receive” I’m still receiving texts and verification codes on my old phone but i want it on this phone i don't want my email as my contact.
