iPhone 16 pro Max overheating after iOS 18.4 update

Hi, my phones been overheating a lot out of nowhere after the last iOS update 18.4, and I removed it from the case, and I leave it near a fan or also I want to put it over an ice pack but I’m afraid that may ruined the battery or the glass, I don’t know what to do, and I use an apple brick and the apple cable!

It’s normal after a point update. Are you in a country that just got Apple Intelligence? You might be experiencing increased activity while various apps are indexed and synced. Generally, the background processes complete in a few days. It’s normal to have extra heat as a byproduct of the background activity. iPhones are designed to handle the heat and have internal monitoring to prevent damage.

i also just noticed these few days, my phone have been heating up suddenly. Even after I power off and turn back on without any applications running - it still gradually heats up......

There is always something (probably several somethings) running if the phone is powered on. Mail, Texts, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media, WhatsApp and other communications apps (Telegram, Signal, FB messenger…). These all are available to run to receive notifications and updates. And if the phone has been off they may run to get the latest updates.

If you fast charge your iPhone it may get very warm, and may pause charging at 80% and display a message saying that charging has paused, and will resume when the phone cools down. This is NOT overheating, and is normal when fast charging. It also won’t prevent you from using any app you have on your phone.

If you have just updated allow a couple of days for iOS to complete its “housekeeping"
