Microsoft Edge Helper causing Kernel panics in MacBook Pro M1 Max running macOS Sequoia Version 15.4 (24E248)

Microsoft Edge (Version 134.0.3124.95 (Official build) (arm64)) is causing Kernel panics in MacBook Pro M1 Max running macOS Sequoia Version 15.4 (24E248).

This causes abrupt computer restarts. And it happens at least once a day.

This started happening when I updated my Mac from Sonoma to Sequoia and also updated my Edge.

I'm not sure if this is Edge's fault or macOS' fault so I'm posting here for help.

I've attached the report I got after the computer restart.

Microsoft distributes and supports their Edge Browser and associated helper applications on macOS. They, not Apple, are responsible for its stability and compatibility with the current release of macOS. That crash report would be better viewed by Microsoft than by us as they have the source code to follow through on that report.

Review if there is a newer version of Microsoft Edge released for macOS v15.4 and update as appropriate. Failing that, contact Microsoft.

That Etrecheck report may reveal other incompatibilities that you have installed or failed to update that may be duplicitous in your Edge browser crashing.

Panics are always Apple's fault. The operating system is supposedly designed to avoid restarting like that. In theory, it should only happen if there is a hardware failure.

Unfortunately, there is little that anyone here can do to help. If Edge is triggering the panics, then your only option is to not use Edge. In a "best case" scenario, the panics would stop. You then know not to use Edge.

Of course, your next thought would be to submit feedback to Apple so they could fix the bug. Cue knee-slapping laughter from the Apple Support Community crowd. Don't go setting yourself up for disappointment. The brutal truth is that Apple simply doesn't fix bugs anymore. Instead, they rewrite the entire operating system every year. In a couple of months, it will simply panic for different reasons.

And in a "typical case" scenario, the panics will continue. That means you have some kind of hardware failure. If the computer is still under warranty, you may be able to take it back to Apple and get it repaired. Well, you can always do that, but you might have to pay for it. But lacking a warranty, you'd probably be better off buying a new one.

This is the problem with posting such issues here. Sometimes, all of our answers are bad.

Crash Reports can be read and understood by only a few of us

I am not one of those who can

To skip the Q&A session, just download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

It’s a diagnostic tool that doesn’t change your computer at all. It gives you a clear and easy-to-read list of both your hardware and software

You can get it for free or pay for extra features. And don’t worry, the report won’t reveal any personal information.

Once you’re done, just copy and paste the full report using the Additional Text Icon.

Based upon a Quick Look

You are right that MS Edge Helper has cause 2 Crashes as evidenced per below

Still need to review the balance of the details.

Thought you would want the Edge aspect covered right away

Thank you for the response.

I got the EtreCheck report. Looks like I can't edit my original post, so I'll just put the report here:

I've also asked this in Microsoft community:
