Sequoia 15.4 change something with the USB-C speed in some way

I am a professional photographer and I have used Capture One every day for years.

Recently, I was using the Sequoia 15.3 in conjunction with the latest version of Capture One 16.5.8. Everything worked perfectly, smoothly, and very quickly. Tethering was extremely fast, and I was using a USB-C 5G cable (Tethertools cable).

After updating to Sequoia 15.4 (without changing anything), the tethered transfer speed is much slower. Instead of instant uploads, you now have to wait 1–2 seconds for each image.

I tried everything and worked with Capture One support, but the slow speed persists.

Something must have changed with this update, and I lost this fantastic speed.

The problem I’m having right now is that there are three actors involved: Apple, Capture One, and Tethertools.

Capture One and Tethertools are very open, and they work with me all the time. Their support is top-notch and we tackle issues methodically, step by step.

Apple is large, and it seems like they could care less…

I am not sure if this message will be beneficial to me, but I am willing to give it a chance, despite my pessimism.

Can someone help me with this small problem?

You are totally right, I didn't describe the cables well.

I was quoting the Tethertools cable : TetherPro USB-C to USB-C 5G Cable

I know them very well and I have a lot of them.

I also have the new TetherPro Optima 10G USB-C, Straight to Right Angle Cable.

I also have 2 Area 51 cables and another IQwire cable.

First let's say that usually the fastest cables are usually Tethertools. They are thicker and stronger.

Area 51 and IQwirew are the same... and the same upload speed.

Basically, what I am saying is that after the update, the first Tethertool cable dropped in speed but the TetherPro Optima 10G USB-C kept the same speed as before.

Something has changed.

Yes, I tried to shut off Apple intelligence and running only with capture one... it is the same low speed.

In any case, without all this, why the fastest cable is still fast and the previous one is slow now. And I tried many cables like that... speed and low speed.

There are no 5G USB-C cables. There are USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Mbps), Gen 2 (10 Mbps), and USB-C 4.0 (40 Gbps) cables. I am using external USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 drives and the same rated cable with my M4 Mac Mini Pro. I see no reduction in transfer performance after updating from Sequoia v15.3.2 to v15.4.

Could there be something else running on your Mac that would explain your changes after 15.4? Have you shut off Apple Intelligence? Was Spotlight reindexing your drive(s) when you observed the tethered transfer slowdown? Does anything else come to mind?
