System panic when using 4K 240Hz external monitors on MacBook Pro M4 Pro

Dear Apple Support,

I’m encountering persistent system panics when using external 4K 240Hz monitors with my MacBook Pro 14″ (Apple M4 Pro, 24GB RAM, macOS 15.4 – build 24E248).

Whenever I connect a 4K 240Hz display and attempt to use it at 240Hz, the system becomes unstable and eventually crashes with a panic (see attached panic log). However, when the refresh rate is set to 120Hz or lower, the system behaves normally.

I have tested this with multiple high-refresh 4K monitors and the issue persists across all of them. The problem appears to be linked to higher refresh rates over HDMI & DisplayPort and USB C HDMI & DisplayPort on 4K displays.

Could you please advise if this is a known issue with macOS 15.4 or M4 Pro hardware, and whether a fix or workaround is available?

I’m happy to provide additional logs or test specific setups if needed.

Best regards,

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.4

I think I remember seeing a similar post in the solution was to not use a 240 Hz refresh rate.
