Why are all my photos' locations in Apple Photos in Saskatchewan Canada getting changed to Red River Valley Canada

Good day to all of you!

I have come across a weird error in Apple Photos Version 8.0 (560.0.114). When setting the location of a photo I start typing the address, for example 623 12th St E, Saskatoon, SK Canada and the list of options to pick from comes up showing that exact address. When I press enter to accept the entered address or I click on the address in the list the location gets updated to Saskatoon, Red River Valley, Canada.

The same thing happens if I put in the latitude and longitude of a property on the shore of Wakaw Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada. Once entered or selected from the list the system changes the location to Wakaw, Red River Valley, Canada.

This makes no sense to me since the Red River Valley is in Manitoba and has no connection to Saskatoon or Wakaw Lake.

How can I get the name of the locations to show up properly in Photos?

Thank you in advance for any assistance that you can provide.

Have a great day everyone!

I added your 623 12th St E, Saskatoon, SK Canada address to a photo in Mac Photos and the location text changed to Saskatoon, Red River Valley, Canada. However, the map thumbnail below it showed the correct location (See attached) and when I exported the photo (Use File > Export > Export 1 photo, NOT drag and drop) and checked its metadata, it showed GPS coordinates as 52 deg 7' 11.66" N, 106 deg 39' 16.45" W which are also correct. So there is a bug but the information is at least partially correct :)

We've seen this sort of thing before. It seems pretty crazy. Photos is using a lookup table to match GPS coordinates to place names, and it gets confused, apparently. I'm not sure where you should report it. And by the way, that address seems to come up correctly for me. It may be that you are getting some outdated lookup through your servers.

The address comes up correctly for me in Maps as well. How does the address work for you in Maps? Maps has a section (under the Maps menu) for reporting things, but I don't know if that's the best spot. You could also try using the Photos Feedback site:

You might try waiting a day in case this is some transient glitch.
