Does shutting down my iMac every night affect required maintenance?

Imac Apple M4 Sequoia 15.3.2

I know that my old Mac needed maintenance and cleaning done regularly since I shut it off every night and so it didn't run its automatic maintenance.

The Unix daily, weekly and monthly scripts aren't really essential on modern macOS - and if the computer if off when they are due to run, they just run on the next boot anyway. That's pretty much true of any backfround maintenance task.

Unless you are troubleshooting, you shouldn't ever need to run any maintenance tasks manually.

That old Mac must have been very, very old. As in two decades or more. Those periodic daily, weekly, monthly scripts were removed from the night shift, reassigned to boot, eventually relegated to login, and as of Sequoia, finally handed their walking papers. They are gone.

Command "sudo periodic daily weekly monthly" no longer works from terminal in sequoia - Apple Community

No. Shut it down whenever convenient to do so. I shut my computer down if I will be away from it for an hour or more. Others will tell you to leave it on all the time and never shut it down. Do as you wish.
