How can I sync message deletion across my Apple devices?

when I delete a message on one device it doesn’t get removed on the other (specifically, 2ipads, a Mac and iPhone). I’ve read the available guidance…and I’ve got iCloud enabled on all devices…even restarted all devices. They appear on all devices simultaneously as I get them but still must be deleted from each device individually
