How do I get rid of the Chrome Redirect ad pop up malware?

I am supposed to use Chrome for a Web-based app for business, but I am plagued with redirects in new tabs and ad pop-ups. Would I need to uninstall and reinstall Chrome to get rid of it? I'm not familiar with Chrome; how do I retain my bookmarks and passwords?

Thanks!

Unexpected browser redirects are always the result of something you installed, most likely through deception.

For a description and the solution please read Removing "Search Marquis" / "Search Baron" / etc on your own - Apple Community. The title describes just one of many manifestations of them.

Impatient? Want to fix it yourself? describes the DIY solution but if you need help fixing it please post the three screenshots it describes in a reply to this Discussion. All three please.

open the Library/Application Support/Google folder in your user account, you can delete the Chrome subfolder. That should get rid of any installed Chrome extensions.
