My watch will only work for about 8 hrs a day. Then it’s dead. Do I need a new battery?

Thank you both for your replies. I checked and my maximum battery capacity is 88% right now. I did put it on low power mode to see how it will do today in that mode. My husband has already checked out getting a new battery and how to change it. 😁
i meant to mention that I do have AppleCare on my Watch.
The technical answer — failing battery, or some hardware issue, or something else entirely — isn’t tied to AppleCare+ coverage.
