Announce Notifications from Messages when phone is unlocked

Can you set up the announce notifications so that Siri will read Messages to you when your phone is unlocked? I know when my phone is locked and I'm using my Airpod Pros, she will announce and read my messages to me. However, sometimes at work, I have the phone unlocked and playing something like a baseball game. So I'm listening with my Airpods, but only occasionally looking at the screen. So I sometimes miss messages that get sent to me, since I didn't see them pop up on the screen and didn't check until later. I'd like to have them announced all the time when I'm connected to the Airpods. Is this an option?
