Why do I have to yell to activate Siri on my iPhone 16?

I have to put the phone right next to my mouth and yell Hey Siri. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t! I’ve restarted. No luck. I’ve shut off Apple intelligence. No luck. What do I do now?

Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence and Siri > Talk and Type to Siri > Set it to “Off” then back on to any other option. You will be asked to read a set of prompts aloud. This will help Siri better recognize and understand your voice, which helps it with responding to you.

Activating Siri with a Yell:

Why all the yelling? Just speak. Not sure if yelling is getting in the way here though, as I've never tried yelling "Hey Siri"
