How can I update my iPhone apps?
updating my apps like book shortcut maps etc.

Most of these apps should update automatically. They're part of the default applications and update whenever the OS is updated, or when there are specific app-level updates.
Third party apps (from vendors other than Apple) are updated via the App Store. Check Settings -> Apps -> App Store to check if automatic updates are enabled. If so, updates are automatically applied when released by the developer. Without this option on, you can check the App Store -> Account -> Apps -> My Apps for a list of installed apps and options to update them.
