Why is a download required to see my iPhone when plugged into my Mac?

have you ever plugged in your iphone into your desktop computer and saw this pop up saying 1 thing needs to be downloaded to see your phone? i've never seen this ever and yet I hit accept yesterday after plugging my phone into my desktop computer. apple m2 ultra desktop computer with macOS sequoia. iphone 15 pro.
