Why does my Apple Watch 10 pedometer count wrist movement as steps?

Hello! I have an apple watch 10 and I have a problem with the pedometer. I work sedentary and by the end of work I have walked around 10 km. Does this also count wrist movement as steps? Or could it be a setting problem? Thanks for the answer!

Yes, one of the things that your watch uses to calculate steps is arm movement. This is why people who have hobbies like knitting or crocheting often take their watches off while knitting. It will count as steps. What is it you do while you're working? My job involves a lot of sitting at a desk and typing but that doesn't have much effect on steps.

This may also be one of the reasons that Apple doesn't focus on steps as a health metric. They focus on total movement, standing, and exercise minutes.
