Mac OS 15.4, Messages 14.0, Mail 16.0
When I use Send Later in Messages, I can set a time/date and then shut down my Mac and the Text Messages are sent at the time expected.
When I use Send Later in Mail, I set the time/date but if I shut down my computer prior to the specified time, the emails are not sent until the computer is turned on again.
Is this correct behavior?

Yes. Messages sends the message to the iMessage server or your carrier depending on the type of message and they are in charge of sending it at the specified time.
Email is not and relies on your Mac to be sent at the specified time, email servers have no way of hanging on to email messages and then sending them at a specified time.

Who is your email provider? I use Gmail. If I log into Gmail through a web browser and opt to send something later, it will send later regardless of whether or not the computer is online, it will send later. I haven't tried this with iCloud as I never really use it.
Thanks, it did not send with the computer in sleep mode either.

I was thinking along these lines and will see if it works setting up a delayed send via iCloud on the web.

Well, after a bit of to sniffing around iCloud Mail, I can't find a way to set a send time there.
May have to consider Gmail as an option.

Thanks for letting us know. Sorry, though, that it didn't work out.
It's a feature I use all the time with my work email (Gmail-based) so I know how valuable it can be.
Just wanted to circle back - web based Outlook supports email send scheduling. Have had some issues with Gmail in the past so glad that this is a working alternative.
