How do I get a refund for an app purchased with a gift card?
I got the app thinking it was good but it wasn’t I’ve never had a self owned apple product so I don’t know what to do

If you sent a request for a refund and it was approved, then the amount will be returned to your Apple Account when using funds from a Gift Card. That is the location where your Gift Card would have been redeemed.
