Why does my new iPhone 16 keep switching between Wi-Fi and T-Mobile 5G?

new iphone 16 keeps dropping wifi and contnects to T-Moble 5G, then reconnects to wifi why is it doing this?

Assuming you are within Wi-Fi range (50-100 feet from the hotspot location, line of sight; shorter through walls), there are a couple of possibilities:


Settings/Cellular/W-Fi assist: If this is on, any time the cellular signal has better throughput than Wi-Fi it will switch to cellular.


VPN: Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN. 


Restart your router by removing all power for around 15 seconds.
