How do I ensure Apple TV 4K Home Screen appears when turning on TV/ATV with the Apple Remote?

Hello, I have an ATV 4k connected via hdmi to my samsung tv. My hope was to only use the apple remote (not the tv remote. In general, that seems to work well and the ATV remote controls my tv. However, when I turn off the tv at night with my apple remote, and then later turn it back on (with the apple remote) the tv turns on, and the ATV seems to be turned on as I can see the ATV light blinking when I use the remote, but I don't get the ATV home screen. The tv's regular smart screen or source shows. The only way I can get the ATV screen is to power off button on atv remote then power on, then home screen button and eventually it shows atv home screen. My question is, how do I set it up so that when I turn on tv/atv with apple remote, it just turns on atv home screen. (note, this only seems to happen if tv is off for a while like over night)

On your Samsung TV settings, look for “Autorun Smart Hub”. Make sure it is turned off. On my TV, I found the setting in “Settings…General…Smart Features”. I also have “AutoRun Last App” turned off.

That would be an issue with the TV not changing to the correct input when the Apple TV turns on.

That's something you would need to resolve on the TV itself. The Apple TV usually does not force itself, but issues a signal and the TV needs to acknowledge and select the input for it if possible.

Check your TV's user manual and see if there's some way to reset the HDMI-CEC option, or just toggle it on and off in your TV's settings.

Alternatively, just keep the TV's remote handy so you can select the correct input with it, without having to turn the Apple TV off and back on again.
