Usb-c ports not functioning on macbook air m1

Since updating to the sequoia, my two usb-c ports on my macbook air m1 do not function properly anymore. They do allow charging, but do not etect any other inputs (e.g. external monitor etc)

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.4

Have you tried restarting your MacBook?

Make sure the cables are securely inserted and check for any dirt or debris in the USB-C ports.

Next, try to isolate the issue. Check if this is solely a video monitor problem. E.g., attach just a keyboard to one USB-C port to diagnose whether the problem is in fact with the port itself as opposed to, say, an external monitor detection issue. Also, when re-trying the monitor, make sure nothing else is attached, daisy-chain style, to the monitor, in case a device further down the chain is causing a conflict of some sort.

If that doesn't resolve the problem, try resetting NVRAM (or PRAM) or the SMC.

Follow these instructions for resetting the PRAM/NVRAM:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

Follow these instructions for resetting the SMC:

If the above doesn't work, run Apple Diagnostics.

To run Apple Diagnostics on a Mac, you'll need to shut down your computer and then restart it while holding down the Command (⌘)-D Keys. See Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac - Apple Support

Check the "Allow Accessories to connect" Privacy & Security System Settings and select "Always when unlocked" to see if that makes any difference. Otherwise macOS may prompt you for confirmation each time a device is connected, but I have found many times those prompts get hidden behind other windows or is missed by the user.

Did all of the above and nothing helped. Diagnostics does not see anything wrong. The only thing that seens to be working on the usb-c ports is the power cable (luckily). Anythibg else is not detected. (Also not visible in system manager under usb ports. The ports itself are visible but it does not detect input (no keyboard, mouse, usb stick etc)
