What does the blue circle around the location icon mean on Find My?

I’m trying to figure out what the blue circle around the icon me and my husband sharing locations and I don’t know if it means he’s out by his vehicle because the blue circle is in the parking lot not around the gym

What does a Purple Arrow mean in Location Sharing? I have shared my location indefinitely with someone but I am confused when I have checked my settings. Does a purple arrow next to Share My Location mean that the person I have shared my location with has been checking my location? A purple arrow shows up often next to Find My IPhone but it can be hours before a purple arrow shows up next to Share My Location. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

A larger translucent blue circle means it's in the general area, but cannot be exactly pinpointed for a variety of reasons.

If he's inside the building the location may not be exact, but in the approximate area.
