iPhone 12 Pro not updating and some apps unresponsive

My iPhone 12 Pro has been working perfectly however upon trying to install iOS 18.4.1 the update failed (stuck on preparing update for 4 hours) a number of apps also stopped working properly including Ring (crashes on opening) Messages app opens, receives but unable to open the actual messages and Settings is unresponsive. I tried a shut down and reboot, but when it rebooted, it was the same as before the shut down.

Currently, the software update shows “searching for update’ but has not changed for many hours.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Try a forced restart, then try updating again.

• Press and quickly release the volume up button

• Press and quickly release the volume down button

• Press and hold the side button.

• When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

I have tried a forced restart, a full shut down and restart and a full battery drain and leave the iphone for several hours, but it's still in the same state. The phone works for calls and most apps work, however, it is suffering the following issues:

Current software on phone is 18.3.2

1/ In settings, I am unable to turn off 'Find My" and therefore, I can't sign out of iCloud and back in again....this same issue prevents me from restoring the iphone, as it can only be done with "Find My" turned off

2/ In software update, it constantly shows "checking for update" but never finds it

3/ When plugged into my Mac, the same issues arise and the phone will not update via the Mac...It finds the 18.4.1 update but when I press update, nothing happens

4/ Several apps crash on opening

Any advice appreciated, particularly regarding the inability to switch off "Find My" as that's the thing that's preventing me from taking the 2 next logical steps in trying to solve this.
