Continuity Markup of Mac screenshots is not working…

I updated to macOS 15.4.1 on the day it was released. Since then the screenshots on my Mac don’t show with a thumbnail in the right bottom corner of my Mac anymore. This prevents me from touching them up with Continuity Markup, before I text (rather, iMessage) them to someone. Where have those thumbnails gone?

There is the possibility to check “Show Floating Thumbnails” in an “Options” pull-down menu, which comes up at the bottom of the screen after hitting ⌘⇧5. The question remains how that setting was changed by the minor macOS update.

I hate that little floating pop-up. I can not turn it off fast enough.

The 15.4.1 has repeatedly turned it back on, no matter how many time I get in the Options to tun it off.

this is not the first time a 'point update' has introduced bugs to this setting.
