I have data caps with my ISP. I would like to know if there is a way to schedule a specific time to download the update. I can install it during the day.

You cannot schedule an update, but what you can do is disable the automatic downloading of updates.
When you are later ready to apply an update you can simply do that manually, both the download and the installation.
