Liquid Detected warning since iOS 18.4.1

After updating to iOS 18.4.1 my iPhone 16 Pro Max is randomly giving a "liquid detected" error message when I charge via USB - C. The phone has never been in contact with liquids, and in all my years using iPhones I’ve never had such an issue. I mostly charge via MagSafe. Has anyone else encountered the same issue ?

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 18

Thank you.

I had indeed sourced this guidance when it first happened and followed the advice offered including using 2 different ( Apple's own ) USB-C charging cables and a 2024 Beats Pill USB-C, waited 48 hours and the error message has repeatedly returned. The iPhone has had no contact whatsoever with any liquid either prior to or subsequently the first message. I have always been careful with phones and liquids.

I see. In that case, take the advice of the last section in the Support Article:

If your iPhone and accessory aren't wet

If you see this alert every time you connect a certain cable or accessory, that cable or accessory might be damaged. Contact the manufacturer.

If you see this alert every time you connect an Apple Lightning or USB-C cable or accessory, you might need service. Get service.
