Erratic cursor behavior on MacBook Air after macOS 15.4.1 update

Hi all,

I recently updated my MacBook Air (M4, 2025) to Sequoia 15.4.1.

ever since the update, my mouse curser is acting very weird - the curser itself moves, but it can't be clicked, and the system doesn't recognize it's location (e.g. dock won't pop up, hovering over the red window close doesn't show the X etc.).

Keyboard works just fine.

It happens both while working with the trackpad or with an external bluetooth mouse.

Only solution when this happens is a hard reset to the computer and the issue disappear. Couldn't find a pattern on when it starts.

Much appreciate if anyone has any clue on what is going on...

Any third-party utilities like anti-virus or so-called "cleaning" apps installed?

Have you run Apple Diagnostics to check for potential hardware issues?

If you set up a new user account for testing, does the problem persist?

New user or group setup on Mac - Apple Support

That is a very good diagnostic step because, if the issue goes away in a new account, that strongly points to a software cause affecting only your regular account.

Here also and its not just the blutooth mouse as I plugged in a USB mouse and the same behavior and the track pad the same. It is as if the pointer cant report it location to the system until I tap the left button. It works just not if you need it to snap to things (like my cad work)
