How can I shut down stolen iPhone?

While there is no way to “shut down your iPhone permanently so it can’t turn on”, there are plenty other security measures you can set in place to prevent others from using your iPhone.

The first is making sure you keep the iPhone tied to your Find My account. This way, Activation Lock will stay enabled and will not allow anyone else to setup and use the iPhone. Then if you want to take another step, you can activate Lost Mode through Find My. This will set a passcode if you already haven’t had one, remove any cards in your Wallet, start tracking it’s location if it originally weren’t, and more.

The next is to contact your carrier and ask them to blacklist it. This way no one else will be able to connect your iPhone to a cellular connection with any carrier.

If you follow those steps, the iPhone will practically be a useless brick to anyone else.

Also, don't fall for "phishing" messages from scammers pretending to be Apple or the police who claim they want to reunite you with your lost phone – but just need you to enter your Apple ID and Apple ID password, or to remove the phone from the list of devices associated with your Apple ID.

These messages are NEVER from Apple or the police, but are from the thief, fence, etc., who is trying to get you to provide them with the means to remove Activation Lock and "make your phone their own."
