Unable to turn on VPN after accidentally turning it off on iPad?

I accidentally turned off the VPN button on my iPad and now it won’t switch on. Any ideas how to rectify this. Thanks.

On my iPad, it is under settings. It is not something I have downloaded. It picks up the internet from my iPhone. Without it I can’t get online on my iPad.

If your iPad is obtaining its internet connection via your iPhone, you will be using your iPhone's hotspot connection:

If an iPhone or iPad with cellular service is sharing a Personal Hotspot, you can use its cellular connection.

  1. Go to Settings  > Wi-Fi, then choose the name of the device sharing the Personal Hotspot.
  2. If asked, enter the password. (On the device sharing the Personal Hotspot, the password is shown in Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.)

Why are you using a VPN? Unless you need it to connect to a secure server for your work or school, it's likely that you don't need it at all.

Same here, I don’t understand why people use VPN. It usually cuts your internet speed in half. And really doesn’t add any benefit to an iPad.

I certainly understand that there are parts of the world where, for safety reasons or to circumvent the restrictions of an oppressive regime, people need to use them. However, I suspect that most people have simply fallen prey to the marketing that it will "make them safer."
