Canon MG7700 Printer Driver for OS Sequoia 15

OS Sequoia 15.4.1 not compatible with Canon MG7720 printer driver. I suspect Canon does not have a new compatible driver for this printer which may be n years old but works fine and has worked fine since both printer and computer were new.

Canon IJ driver download just now apparently does not work, or at least I cannot get it to work. Scrn shot of download from their site is below.

Suggestions?

Canon Support – Pixma MG7720

There do not appear to be printer drivers for anything newer than Mojave. However, I believe that this printer has AirPrint support. That means that you can use it as an AirPrint printer without separately-installed drivers.

About AirPrint - Apple Support

Your references and the references that those led to worked ultimately. It turned out that although I could AirPrint from the laptop I simply could not print from the desktop (USB plugged in or not).

It turned out that I needed to turn on the printer sharing on the desktop which had always been plugged in.

I've used Apple computers and products since our first (SE 50) in 1987. I learn something new often, especially as we keep all our devices up with the current operating systems.

In our book Apple is the greatest. Please keep up your standards.

Even with progress made the printing ability seemed to come and go. Printing from the iPhone 16 was straightforward, but not with the computer. Scanning seemed to be come and go also from the computer. Further research yielded this:

So this is what did the trick for us:

delete the devices via Settings> Printers and Scanners

Then follow steps 5 through 11 above. That is all I had to do. Note the Drivers in the Canon folder in Library, those that begin with CN must be deleted. I believe this was the crux of our issue. They had not been removed.

As of today I feel we have a system that is all GO. And this is with one fewer cable in the angle below the table.

I hope this helps others.
