Can I use Apple TV for music via AirPlay without turning on my TV?

I have an apple TV 4K connected to my Onkyo tx-NR5100 which is connected to my TV via HDMI (eARC port which supports CEC).

Everything works great except for 1 thing: I use an iPad to play music via Apple Music on the Apple TV since that device can play both lossless and Atmos and I can control it through the iPad (which is great). It's the only combo I managed to get to work to play Atmos and do remote control via another device (iPad/iPhone) not unlike spotify connect or tidal connect.

Here's my issue: when I select the Apple TV via airplay to play music, the TV gets switched on. I don't really need the big screen at all but I suspect the Apple TV gets out of suspend causing the TV to switch on which is a massive power waste.

Anyone any idea how to, when only playing music, prevent the TV from being switched on?

Many thanks!

Herman

You would need to find the option on your TV or the Onkyo Receiver for HDMI-CEC an turn it off, so it does not react to the input signal from the Apple TV or the receiver does not tell the TV to turn on when it detects the signal from the Apple TV.

The Apple TV has no option for screen-less operation.
