How to disable VoiceOver on iPhone 13 running iOS 18?

Yesterday my iPhone 13 announced it was updated to the latest IOS 18 software. Later in the day the mic quit working. This morning I went into settings and clicked on Voice Over..than tutorial. Now I can't even get out of that. My phone is mostly frozen. I managed to power it off and on again but there is a box around the time display and when I swipe up to put my P.I.N. in nothing happens. When I hold in the volume and power button to power off the screen shows "slide to power off" and voice over says double tap to power off now. I double tap and it takes me to "Enter Passcode" I try to enter it but it doesn't take! WTH is going on?!!!

It sounds as if you enabled VoiceOver without completely understanding how to use it. I believe you need to tap each number twice when you enter your passcode if VoiceOver is enabled.

You turned on voice over, that is what it does. It places a box around an item onscreen and speaks it. When it's enabled, access and function of the iPhone changes a bit to accommodate Voice Over.

You can ask Siri to turn off Voice Over.

Again, you enabled Voice Over, that is the way it works. You may have confused Voice Over with something else, but what you are describing is precisely Voice Over active and working as designed and expected.

To enter your password, you tap on a number oncer to select tit, (it will speak it) and then double tap it to actually enter it.

Voice Over has nothing to do with the microphone function.
