I have the extended keyboard that I purchased with my iMac about 5 years ago. Because it includes the key pad for typing numbers, I would like to have the keypad available for work on my MacBook.
Or... is there a seprate number keypad that would attach this way?

Yes, you can plug in the keyboard to the MacBook Air and use it normally.
If the Keyboard has a USB-A connector, you will need an USB-A to USB-C adapter.
