How to resolve 'this device is paused' error on Xfinity Xfi app for Sequoia 15.3.2?

One. Turn on desktop Pro with Sequoia 15.3.2.

Two. Try to access the Internet.

Result: this device is paused. to resume access to the Internet on your home network open the Xfinity Xfi app

  1. This can happen if:
    • Parental Controls: A parent has set a time limit or a specific pause time for the device, and that limit has been reached. 
    • Scheduled Pauses: A schedule has been set to pause the device during certain hours of the day.


  • Unpause in the App:
    • Open the Xfinity XFi app. 
    • Go to the "Connect" tab (bottom of the app) and then select "Devices". 
    • Locate the paused device (it might be listed under "Devices not connected" at the bottom). 
    • Select the paused device and choose the "Unpause Device" option.

Probably this would have worked if it were not for some combo of both new xFinity xFi and Sequoia 15.3.2. Things finally worked after I restarted both, several times not just once, xFi and my Mac Pro ... and then restarted the xFi app as well, then checked "unpause" on the xFi app. Since no humans were around at either xFinity or Apple I got to waste about an hour fumbling around and guessing.
