Can I use custom sounds for WhatsApp notifications on iPhone?

No, it cannot. Not if WhatsApp doesn’t provide that option within the app.

Yes, that is a built in iOS feature. Which doesn’t mean you can do the same thing with a third party app like WhatsApp.

I've also attributed a custom ringtone to certain contacts so when they ring me I know who it is from their custom ringtone.

The same goes for this option.

Basically, reach out to WhatsApp Support and inquire if their app will allow you to do it. I’m telling you there’s no way to do it outside of WhatsApp, now you ask them if there’s a way to do it inside the app itself.

If you want to put a custom sound to an individual on WhatsApp, you open the app, search for the individual, tap on the contact picture and look for notifications, tap on it and you will see lots of tones to choose from, just keep in mind that you can’t import no tones from any other source

I tried doing that but it doesn’t work, you can only use the tones that are provided in the Apple Store, it is different from Android phones where you can use any song that is saved on your device as a ringtone or notification alert

Well I don’t have WhatsApp, so I don’t know if you can set a custom notification sound from within the app. But I do know that you cannot do so from outside of WhatsApp.

In iOS, you can only set a custom ringtone for a few Native Apps. Anything else, and especially third party apps, it’s up to the developer what notification sounds the app uses.

What do you mean you’ve set a custom ringer “for the phone?”
