What does "watch unlocked" pop-up on Apple Watch means?

"HELP I NEED SOMEBODY..." I don't know what "watch unlocked" means when it appears on my watch or why should care. Why would I need my apple watch locked to my i-phone? What happens when it is "unlocked"? Can you help me understand what to do - should i "lock" or "unlock"?

Without seeing the exact error message, that's a hard question to answer.

Are you perhaps seeing the message that your Watch has been unlocked by your iPhone? If your watch is locked and you unlock your iPhone, it will automatically unlock the watch if you have that setting enabled. Watch App>Passcode>Unclock with iPhone. Only you can decide if you want this setting enabled.

If your watch is locked, you won't be able to do much with it except look at the main screen.

If you mean something else, please explain. Screenshots are helpful.

When you have "Unlock with iPhone" turned on in the settings, unlocking your iPhone unlocks your Apple Watch as long as you're wearing it. Since this works automatically and you might not notice is right away, this particular message pops up.

If you set up a passcode for your watch and wrist detection is enabled, the watch will be connected to your iPhone and can exchange data.

But, if you take off your watch, it can only be accessed if unlocked by the iPhone or by putting in the passcode.

Unlocking with the iPhone will not trigger the passcode screen on the watch, the display will be shown right away.

Typically if it is unlocked it is not tied to a specific carrier (Verizon for example). If you sync it to your iPhone, it should be tied to whatever carrier the phone is. You want that. If a call comes in, but your phone is in the next room, you can answer it from your watch.

It also could mean it is unlocked with a passcode. Assuming you did set up a passcode for it, right?

Those are the only two "unlocked" things that come to mind with my watch.
