How do I unmute Facebook videos on iPhone 16 Pro Max without using AirPods?

On the iPhone 16 pro max, I was watching Facebook videos and took a break and when I went back on, the videos were muted. I tried unmuting when I got the message about using the volume to unmute . I even tried switching from ring to silent button on the side of the phone. What seemed to work is connecting my AirPods then disconnecting them and then the sound became normal.
